Art Gallery
Our art gallery
includes works (available for sale) from up-and-coming artists alongside more established local and international artists, as well as a display of work (not for sale) from the museum’s private collection including lithographs and/or paintings from/after Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Joan Miro, Henri Matisse, Leo Fontan, Craigie Aitcheson and more.
Whilst works from living artists on physical display at the museum are not for sale, there is a digital screen showing a selection of available works.
If you are interested in buying any such work, we arrange a personal visit to the artist’s studio to see further works first-hand and deal directly with the artist for your purchase. For works of artists who are from an earlier era, we have access to a select number of alternative works for sale from connected galleries. Again, we can put you in touch with such galleries if you wish to understand availability of similar works.
Below is a small sample of some of the works on display and information on the artists (whether from today or years past):
Sait Mingü
Sait Mingü graduated from the Faculty of Painting at Mimar Sinan University and worked as an Art Director at Güzel Sanatlar / Saatchi & Saatchi before becoming a full time artist in 2006.
We had the pleasure of showing his works at our associated Art Gallery in Astoria, Istanbul in 2014 / 2015, during which time he was awarded Hugh Casson Drawing Award at the Royal Academy in London. Since then, he has continued to evolve, catching the eye of international investors and exhibitors.
Julie Hine
Julie Hine studied at Wimbledon College of Art and Manchester College of Art. She worked briefly as a magazine and advertising illustrator for clients such as Mary Quant, before turning full time to painting.
Her work has the capacity to evoke a huge emotional response.
Most of all Julie and her husband, the illustrator David Juniper, are a wonderful couple, whom we were honoured to visit in their beautiful home by the sea.
She exhibited in London in the 1970s and then in Ireland, and her work features in national and private collections worldwide.
Leo Fontan (1884 -1965)
Leo was a French painter, illustrator, and decorative/interior designer born in Donchery, France, and was educated at the National School of Fine Arts. He is perhaps best known for his Art Nouveau illustrations. We are pleased to have on display one of his original paintings.
Burcu Urgut
Born in 1984, Burcu Urgut is a contemporary Turkish artist alternating her time between Istanbul, Turkey and Manchester, England. She graduated from The Anadolu University Faculty of Fine Arts and has exhibited in art fairs including the Istanbul Art Fair, Contemporary Istanbul and Context Art Miami 2019, as well as a number of solo exhibitions.
Burcu creates works that are full of detail, each one a story in its own right. She is one of the rising stars of the art scene in Turkey and the UK with increasing wider international success.
Mehmet Zeki Kaba
Mehmet Zeki Kaba was born in 1958, Eskişehir, and graduated from Tourism Department of Boğaziçi University in 1978.
We have a single work of this artist in our permanent exhibition, which we understand depicts the conquest of Istanbul - quite appropriate, given the museum’s location inside the old city walls.
Henri Matisse
(1869- 1954)
Henri Matisse was originally from Northern France and worked in all media, from drawing to painting, sculpture to printmaking.
He only started painting in earnest at the age of 21 whilst recovering from an illness and never looked back, moving to Paris in 1891 and taking artistic instruction from famous older artists at well-known schools such as the Académie Julian and the École des Beaux-Arts.
He went on to become one of the most revolutionary artists of the early 20th century, using bright colours and creating works such as The Joy of Life. He was also able to capture the essence of his subjects in simple line drawing as evidenced by the work on display at the Museum of Wonder Happiness and Joy.
Ismet Doğan

Ismet Doğan was born in 1957 in Turkey. He graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts in Istanbul in 1983 and in 1987 he received a French Government Scholarship and moved to study in Paris. Returning to Istanbul in the 1990s he has been a significant figure in the contemporary Turkish art scene and has had many successful exhibitions. The work on display at the Museum of Wonder Happiness and Joy is called Red Shoe.
Andy Warhol
Andy Warhol needs no introduction, being a leading artist of the 1960s Pop Art movement and producing iconic works throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s.
On display at the Museum of Wonder Happiness and Joy are 4 works after Andy Warhol from his Marilyn Monroe series: Andy Warhol (After) limited edition print on paper’.
