Welcome To The
Museum of Wonder Happiness and Joy
Museum and art gallery 'opening soon' in Balat, Istanbul, showcasing work that evokes wonder, happiness, and joy in our world.
The Museum of Wonder Happiness and Joy...
...is nestled at the very heart of the historic area of Balat, one of Istanbul’s oldest quarters. It was set up to help us reconnect with what is really important.
It is a place to feel emotions that may have become buried in our hectic day-to-day lives, where the pressures of the disposable consumerist world in which we increasingly live are to be left outside the front door.
Experience ‘Wonder’ at the items and images on display from around (and even beyond our world), ’Happiness’ at memories evoked from simple, beautifully designed, everyday things, artist’s works and skilful handcrafts and ‘Joy’ at sharing the experience of a range of artistic and entertainment events with friends and loved ones, meeting new people and engaging in great causes relating to the preservation of culture and the sustainability of our beautiful world.
Art Gallery
Our
Art Gallery includes works from up-and-coming artists alongside more established local and international artists, as well as a display of work from the museum’s private collection.
GIFT SHOP
Our shop has a range of gifts relating to the museum.
We also support beautiful hand-made crafts and goods from all over the world, with a particular focus on Anatolian & Turkic arts and crafts and a strong emphasis on production in a way that promotes the sustainability of our wonderful planet.
Coffee Shop & Tea House
Spontaneity is a key theme of this delightful space, so don’t be surprised if an artist starts sketching you whilst you enjoy a perfect cup of Turkish coffee or English tea, a poet suddenly stands up on a table and recites his latest work, or a group of musicians start an unplanned jamming session.
